Courage to Act is developing resources to support frontline gender based violence (GBV) support workers in post secondary institutions (PSIs) in Canada, and we need your help! Key findings in Possibility Seeds’ landmark report, Courage to Act: Developing a National Framework to Prevent and Address Gender-Based Violence at Post-Secondary Institutions, included the urgent need for comprehensive tools around intake processes for PSIs to address gender based violence. In addition, detailed interviews with GBV workers across Canada highlighted the need for PSIs to more fully address the trauma exposure experienced by frontline workers while supporting individuals subjected to GBV.
Courage to Act created two opportunities for frontline GBV support workers to provide input on critical tools to address these issues:
Attend our Intake Design Jam! We invite frontline GBV support workers to join us on May 18th 2021 on Zoom from 1:00 – 2:30 pm (EST). The Intake Design Jam will be a collaborative space to gather and envision promising intake practices for PSIs addressing gender based violence. As an expert in the field, we hope you would be open to sharing your expertise around what intake looks like/could look like at your organization and what you feel is key to include in intake forms and processes. If you are interested in participating, please sign up here.
Participate in our survey exploring promising practices in addressing trauma exposure for frontline workers. Frontline GBV support workers at PSIs in Canada are invited to participate in a short survey. This survey is an opportunity to share your expertise and experiences of promising practices to address trauma exposure for staff within your organization on an institutional level, managerial level, peer level, and individual level. The responses of this survey will be used to inform Courage to Act’s upcoming resource on support and response. The survey can be found here, and will remain open until May 24th 2021.
Thank you for taking the time to provide valuable input. Your feedback will inform the development of critical resources by the Response and Support Working Group of Courage to Act. These resources will be released as a part of a suite of resources available free of charge for Canadian campus communities in Fall 2021.
