Emily is a communications specialist and writer who’s been engaged with feminist research and non-profits for over a decade. She holds a double BA in Anthropology and Political Science, and an MA in Sociocultural Anthropology, from the University of British Columbia and has served as a board member for the Association for Feminist Anthropology. Her creative nonfiction work poetically explores fat liberation as an intersection of feminist politics. It has appeared in The Fat Zine blog, Understorey Magazine, Caitlin Press’ BIG: Stories About Life in Plus-Sized Bodies (a spring 2020 BC bestseller), and Inanna Publications’ 2023 Fat Studies in Canada: Re-Mapping the Field.
